Cross that one off the list ...

OK... DBA 15mm Spanish army, courtesy of Corvus Belli, done!!! I've struggled with my eyesight and painting over the last year, so most of 2009's effort has been 28mm GW figures (those Dwarfs), but I actually managed these 15mm figures pretty well (although as it's holiday time I've had the luxury of painting in bright daylight. I think that that has helped).

I layered the paint on these figures, and this is especially obvious on the shields. I'm not quite sure if the final result is the effect I wanted, but I'm not redoing them. And those shields are likely to be the death of me anyway, as I am having trouble keeping them on the figures, despite the use of good quality Superglue... we'll have to wait and see how they withstand game play.

So .. cross that project off the list. Now on to those ANZAC heavy weapons from Hat.. they've been waiting for a while, then the VSF British HotT army.. ever the optimist, eh???

  1. Do you play them as Iberians or Celtiberians?

  2. I've only played 2 games with them so far.. one of each.. i.e. Auxilia, or Warband.. I think they are going to be equally hard to use regardless.. or I just need to learn a whole lot more to make them effective

  3. I'll be interested to hear how you go with the Iberians. The list is very similar to the Ariarathid Kappadokian (it has more Cav & LH, less Ps, but still the core of Aux) which I just bought. I had some good luck with them on their first outings (against Seleucids), but have since discovered that we were moving illegally in the rough, so I'll have to re-evaluate!

  6. You can put down a lot of nasty terrain with aggression 0 and Hilly topography. ;)

  7. Did this.. but the control issues hit me both times.. starved of PIPs didn't help either.. but even with reasonable numbers of PIPs I found that it was hard to co-ordinate troops.

  8. They look great. I look forward to seeing them on the table top in a weeks time.

From what I can gather you are likely to have several historical opponents. Polybian Romans, Numidians and perhaps Marian Romans and Carthaginians.

  9. Thanks Keith... I worked quite hard amongst the usual family Xmas/New Year things to get them finished.. but I'm pretty happy with them... despite my comments on the paint layering and shields.

Is the fact that Spain was subjugated by the Carthaginians, then the Romans, history's way of telling me something? LOL

  10. Well done, they look great. You may find for the shields that using PVA on one surface and superglue on the other works well. I read it as a suggestion on the Fanaticus forum.

A water lurker for HotT

I felt like doing something a little more creative, in the midst of a lot of 6mm WW1 painting. For some years I've had a crocodile '...
