Just helping to spread the sad news of Dr Griffith' passing.
Dr Griffith' writings on WW1 have been hugely influential in the development of my own thinking on the conflict. He might be considered (along with John Terraine) as one of the earlier revisionists who cut through decades of biased writings on the war by looking at the actual evidence rather than the vast tomes of post war justification that seem to have been written by those seeking self justification (harsh judgement maybe? I'm certainly no professional historian).
Books such as 'Batte Tactics of the Western Front' represented a significant step forward in our thinking on the conflict.
Thanks Dr Griffith for a massive contribution to our understanding of our own past.
